The 32d Barristers' Open renewed itself on a sometimes-rainy morning at Crosswinds Golf Course in Bowling Green.
A team led by Aaron Smith and Judge Sam Potter (right) won this year's scramble-format tourney with an 8-under 64. Ryan Reed and Nathan Vinson (left) rounded out the victorious foursome.
Finishing second, one stroke back, was a threesome headed by Chris Davenport. Walther Connolly and Dick Downey supported Davenport, the leading ball-striker in the local bar.
Brent Stinnett was in charge of "The Fifth Major." Special awards went to Davenport for longest drive on number 10, an uphill four-par, and to Connolly for closest to the pin on number 3. He lofted a shot over the front bunker to within 19 feet of the cup.
The Barristers' Open wasn't held in 2013 after an insufficient number of golfers signed up. This year's resurgence led to hope that the event will continue generating interest for years to come. Some discussion was had about possibly changing the event to an afternoon outing.
The winners were presented with Trophy Cups, and gift certificates were handed out to the runner-up team.
