Judge Gregory N. Stivers' formal investiture as Judge of the United States District Court, Western District of Kentucky, is set for Thursday, Feb. 19 at 1:00 p.m.
The ceremony will be held in the second floor courtroom of the Federal Courthouse at the corner of Main and Center Streets in Bowling Green.
A reception will immediately follow. All Bowling Green-Warren County Bar Association members are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Stivers was confirmed on Dec. 4 by the U.S. Senate. He was sworn in soon after, succeeding Senior U.S. District Judge Thomas Russell.
"Greg is an experienced and respected civil practitioner who has represented Kentuckians diligently for nearly 30 years, and he is well qualified to serve on the federal bench," U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said in a statement.
Stivers obtained his law degree from the University of Kentucky. At the time of his confirmation, Stivers was a partner at Kerrick, Bachert and Stivers, now Kerrick Bachert. He has represented Western Kentucky University and the city of Bowling Green in a number of civil cases.
