On Dec. 27, 2016, Jim Harris sent this note to members of the Bowling Green Bar Association and participating staff members about the annual bell-ringing for the Salvation Army.
Bar members and staff manned several locations on a frigid Dec. 8 to raise money for the less fortunate.
"I want to express my appreciation to you for volunteering on a very cold day to be a bell ringer for The Salvation Army," Harris wrote. "Your efforts to help those less fortunate than ourselves have paid off handsomely. I am advised that our kettle receipts plus donations from bar members amounted to the sum of $4,717.16 and for what it’s worth, that puts us in first place among all bell ringing groups. Thank you so much."
